To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Chogokin brand, TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectors' toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has announced the latest product from the classic robot anime "Godmars", the "GX-40SP Godmars CHOGOKIN 50th Ver.", scheduled for release in September 2025, as part of its popular die-cast toy series "Soul of Chogokin".
The robot anime "Godmars", which aired in 1981, is adapted from the manga "MARS" created by Japanese manga master Mitsuteru Yokoyama. The story describes how Takeru Myojin, an elite member of the Earth Defense Force, encounters Emperor Zul, who seeks to dominate the universe, during a mission. He then learns that he is "Mars", a Gishin alien sent to Earth as an infant, possessing superhuman physical abilities and psychic powers. Zul orders him to use the "Six God Robots" that were sent to Earth with him to destroy Earth, but Takeru Myojin, who identifies himself as an Earthling, resolves to resist Zul and launches a counterattack by piloting the Six God Robots combined into "Godmars".
The "GX-40SP Godmars CHOGOKIN 50th Ver." is based on the previously released standard version and inherits its excellent transformation and combination mechanism. It can fully house "Gaia", piloted by Takeru Myojin, as its core within "Sphinx", and transform the four machines "Uranus", "Titan", "Shin", and "Ra" into limbs, combining to form "Godmars" with an impressive height of approximately 28 cm.
Compared to the color scheme of the standard version, this Chogokin 50th Anniversary commemorative edition features luxurious electroplating. The core "Gaia" has electroplating applied to all its red and silver parts. The other five machines also have electroplating on the silver sections of their upper arms and and legs. After the Six God Combination, the stacked electroplated and metallic painted parts reflect a luxurious, shimmering luster.
Accessories include the "Cosmo Crusher" with its three-machine separation and combination mechanism, the Six God Robots' individual dedicated weapons, Godmars' dedicated "Mars Flash" sword and the Chogokin series original design "Six God Sword", and the "Myojin Reef" rock formation for housing Gaia.
