Elon Musk Slams "Assassin's Creed Shadows" Streamer; Ubisoft Fires Back: "Did Your Booster Teach You That?"

Since its reveal, "Assassin's Creed Shadows" has faced scrutiny from some players regarding one of its dual protagonists, Yasuke, alongside controversies over historical accuracy and shrine destruction. These debates have persisted even after the game's official launch. Tesla CEO Elon Musk also weighed in on social media, criticizing the new title, prompting a sarcastic, attention-grabbing response from the official Ubisoft account.

On X (formerly Twitter), Musk criticized a sponsored tweet from Twitch streamer Hasan Piker promoting "Assassin's Creed Shadows," calling Hasan a "fraud" and an "opportunist willing to push bad games for money." Musk had previously labeled the game a prime example of "DEI killing art."

In response, the official "Assassin's Creed" account quickly retorted on social media: "Did your 'Path of Exile 2' booster teach you that?" This comment immediately sparked widespread discussion.

Ubisoft's retort was a thinly veiled reference to Musk's past claims of exceptional skill in "Path of Exile 2," which were later questioned by players who noticed his game account remained active during his public appearances. Musk eventually admitted to hiring a booster, defending the practice by claiming "everyone does it."

He also confessed to using boosting services to climb the ranks in "Diablo IV," despite previously boasting of being a world-class player in that game.

Despite the ongoing controversies, "Assassin's Creed Shadows" has achieved significant market success. According to Ubisoft's data, the game surpassed 2 million players within 48 hours of launch, making it the second-largest debut in the series' history, trailing only 2020's "Assassin's Creed Valhalla."
