Following the massive success of "Barbie," director Greta Gerwig is now helming a new adaptation of C.S. Lewis's "The Chronicles of Narnia" for Netflix. Casting news has been steadily surfacing, and the latest potential addition is Meryl Streep, who previously collaborated with Gerwig on "Little Women." According to reports from Nexus Point News, Streep has been approached to voice the iconic lion, Aslan. While Liam Neeson famously voiced Aslan in the previous film adaptations, Gerwig's vision reportedly seeks a fresh interpretation, with Streep potentially voicing a female version of the character.

Gerwig is set to write and direct the first two installments of the new "The Chronicles of Narnia" series. The inaugural film will adapt "The Magician's Nephew," which, despite being the sixth book published in C.S. Lewis's original series, serves as a prequel and the earliest story chronologically. Production is slated to begin this June and continue through Christmas. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on February 12, 2027, with IMAX sneak previews starting February 10, before its streaming debut on Netflix on April 2, 2027.
