The "Creature Encyclopedia (いきもの大図鑑)" product series, released by Bandai Toy Company's GASHAPON division and known for its realistic reproduction of natural creatures, is now offering the latest "Creature Encyclopedia Repti Dinosaur Vol. 02" (いきもの大図鑑レプティ 恐竜02) on GASHAPON ONLINE! Shipping is scheduled to begin in July 2025, with a suggested retail price of 500 JPY per capsule.
Following the first volume released in February this year, the "Creature Encyclopedia Repti Dinosaur Vol. 02" once again features Japanese sculptor Nendo Seijin (ねんど星人), known for his expertise in depicting animals and monsters, as the prototype artist. Japanese animal sculptor Jiro Miura is responsible for the coloring. This series continues the previous work's style, combining delicate realism with a Q-version proportion, fully expressing the hard skin texture and muscle lines of dinosaurs within an 8-11 cm size. The paint application maintains a highly biological gradient while also featuring a more diverse overall color palette.
This series offers a total of four dinosaur species and six variations to collect, including the newly introduced giant carnivorous "Spinosaurus" (in blue and red) and the herbivorous "Styracosaurus" with an even more formidable-looking frill (in light and dark colors). The Tyrannosaurus Rex and Triceratops from the first volume also return in new dark red colors! From my own play experience, the 9 points of articulation on the first volume's T-Rex were truly amazing, and its balance was excellent, making it incredibly fun to pose! The new Spinosaurus also features 9 points of articulation, which is very exciting – the blue one looks super cool!
