The high-end finished model series 'VARIABLE ACTION Hi-SPEC UNITED', based on 'Future GPX Cyber Formula' and launched by 'threeMega', a collaborative brand between Japanese model maker Megahouse and Hong Kong model maker threezero, has announced its second product, 'Super Asurada 01', slated for release in Q2 2026.
Following the release of the first product, "Asurada G.S.X", in 2023, the two major cross-border collaborating manufacturers are once again releasing the 'Super Asurada 01'. This successor vehicle was developed by Hiroyuki Kazami in the series to unleash the full performance of the CS 'Asurada', and it is the first racing car equipped with more than three transformation mechanisms. After Hiroyuki Kazami's passing, this car was preserved in his British mansion until it was discovered by the SUGO team in 2015, becoming the exclusive vehicle for his son, Hayato Kazami, in the fifth race of the World Championship, the 'British GP', held that same year.
The 'Future GPX Cyber Formula' 35th-anniversary commemorative product, 'VA Hi-SPEC UNITED Super Asurada 01', retains the cool silhouette bestowed by original designer Shoji Kawamori. Its body surface has been reinterpreted by threezero Art Director Kelvin Sau, resulting in an extremely rich mechanical detail design. It also incorporates some alloy parts, heavy metallic coating, and body logo printing, delivering a full sense of weight and realism at an approximate length of 277mm.
Beyond its striking appearance, the 'VA Hi-SPEC UNITED Super Asurada 01' also features a wealth of playable mechanisms to recreate its in-series settings. It can fully transform into three modes—Basic, Aero, and Rally—without the need for part replacement. The vehicle body incorporates LED light-up mechanisms for the headlights, cockpit dashboard, and boosters, which can be activated using magnetic switches.
Furthermore, accessories include a dedicated display base designed like a race track, and a mini articulated figure of Hayato Kazami that can be placed in the cockpit. The base is not merely decorative; it features a built-in sound playback function, including classic anime music, sound effects, and newly recorded character voices by the original anime voice cast. The side of the base also has a button that links with the Super Asurada 01 main unit, allowing it to deploy the boosters and play the famous line, 'Booster on! Countdown to engine limit!' upon activation!
