The brothers behind "American Pie" (Paul Weitz) and "About a Boy" (Chris Weitz) will bring their first series directing work "Murderbot" next month. The show is adapted from the bestselling sci-fi novel series "The Murderbot Diaries" by Martha Wells, and the first trailer was officially released tonight.

"Murderbot" is co-written by the Weitz brothers, who will direct several episodes. The main cast includes Alexander Skarsgård as the titular "Murderbot," along with Josh Cruddas, David Dastmalchian, Sabrina Wu, and others. The show is scheduled to premiere on Apple TV+ on May 16.
Official synopsis: In a high-tech future, a malfunctioning security robot secretly gains free will and reluctantly takes on a new mission to protect a scientist on a dangerous planet, while his biggest wish is simply to binge-watch shows.
