Director Darren Aronofsky, who has collaborated with numerous stars on films such as "Black Swan" and "Requiem for a Dream," has worked with many actors considered pioneers of method acting, including Jared Leto and Ellen Burstyn. However, Aronofsky recently confessed during a masterclass in Paris that he has a strong distaste for actors who adhere to method acting.

The common modern perception of method acting involves actors using extreme and intense techniques to force themselves into character, maintaining that persona throughout the entire filming process. Aronofsky expressed his strong disapproval of this approach, stating: "I hate method actors. Method acting is just an excuse for them to hide; it's not actual work or professional performance. You can do extensive research, you can work hard, but acting is ultimately about pretending. If you're performing a high-intensity scene, there's nothing wrong with isolating yourself between takes, focusing, and maintaining the emotional state. It's a sport, a game, but you don't need to dribble the ball constantly. That's not how it works. Do your homework, prepare, and the performance exists only in the false reality between 'Action' and 'Cut.' If these actors insist on spending their time on these things, there's nothing I can do; I just encourage them to relax a bit."
