Aoshima Bunka Kyozai Co., Ltd.'s newly launched assembly model brand PLAfig (プラフィギュア) has officially unveiled its first product based on the movie "Godzilla Minus One" – "Godzilla (2023)". It will be released in a regular edition and an official website exclusive edition, with reference prices of 7,260 JPY and 7,480 JPY respectively, and is scheduled for release in September 2025!
Released in 2023, "Godzilla Minus One" is a Godzilla film commemorating Godzilla's 70th anniversary. The story returns to post-WWII Japan, recreating the destruction wrought by this nuclear behemoth on the human world and depicting how people in the aftermath confront the renewed colossal disaster. The stunning visual effects, created by a special effects team of only 35 people, also allowed "Godzilla Minus One" to defeat Hollywood blockbusters like Marvel and Mission: Impossible at the 96th Academy Awards, winning the Best Visual Effects award!
PLAfig is a new brand dedicated to "combining model technology with artistic expression to create ultimate sculpts," bringing together Aoshima's modeling expertise to craft overwhelming designs. After a long anticipation, the "Minus One Godzilla" finally makes its official debut as the series' first work! This PLAfig Godzilla 2023 stands approximately 13 cm tall when completed. Based on the original sculpt by emerging creature sculptor Shuzo Kanemushi, it faithfully recreates Godzilla's appearance during the Ginza attack in a fixed pose at a small scale. Utilizing sophisticated model-making techniques, collectors can enjoy Godzilla's powerful sculpt by simply using specialized glue and tools for assembly, without compromising the design!
For the box art, illustrator TAKA-F has created a brand new illustration, showcasing Godzilla's intimidating posture like a god of destruction. This official website exclusive edition will also include additional clear molded dorsal fin parts to recreate the atomic breath!
