GUNDAM BASE, Japan's official Gunpla flagship store for "Mobile Suit Gundam," has announced the latest limited-edition product from the theatrical anime "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack," the "MG 1/100 Sazabi Ver.Ka [Mechanical Clear]," which will be available for sale at all stores starting May 24, 2025.
The "MSN-04 Sazabi," piloted by Commander Char Aznable, is a large Mobile Suit approximately 26 meters in length, incorporating technologies from successive Zeon-type mobile suits. The entire unit is equipped with fuel tanks and numerous thrusters and attitude control nozzles, allowing it to exhibit excellent maneuverability in space despite its seemingly bulky appearance. In terms of firepower, this unit is armed with a high-output large beam rifle, a large beam tomahawk, a diffuse mega particle cannon in the abdomen, and other armaments. Additionally, parts of its internal structure utilize a psycho-frame, enabling Char to unleash his Newtype abilities and control the 6 funnels mounted on its back for all-range attacks.
The "MG 1/100 Sazabi Ver.Ka [Mechanical Clear]" is based on a modified version of the previously released standard edition. Its characteristic red armor has been entirely replaced with colorless transparent molded parts, which not only clearly reveal the intricate internal frame structure but also allow modelers to utilize the texture of the transparent parts for customization, creating a wide array of clear-color style finishes.
Aside from the color, the specifications are identical to the standard version. The mobile suit's design and various mechanisms were handled by renowned mechanical designer KATOKI HAJIME, featuring rich armor details and armor deployment gimmicks that differ from the original work. The intricate internal structure is a particular highlight of the product. The armament accessories are also abundant, including a beam tomahawk in its normal color scheme, and a beam shotgun and long-range beam rifle in transparent molded colors. The six funnels mounted on the back can also be detached from their racks and deployed into firing positions.
