Two years after "Stranger Things" creators the Duffer Brothers first announced plans to expand the franchise into animation, Netflix has officially confirmed the title of the upcoming animated spinoff: "Stranger Things: Tales From '85." The streamer is set to unveil the first promotional materials — including stills, concept art, or a teaser trailer — at this year's Annecy International Animation Film Festival on June 11.

The idea of an animated "Stranger Things" project dates back to 2022, when the Netflix news site What's on Netflix reported on a Japanese anime spinoff concept titled "Stranger Things: Tokyo." It remains unclear whether "Tales From '85" is the same project, as official plot details for the newly announced series have not yet been released.
Additionally, What's on Netflix also reported today that Netflix has already given a two-season order for "Tales From '85."
