From Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS, the transforming alloy toy series "DX Chogokin" has announced its latest product from "Macross 7", the "DX Chogokin VF-19 Kai Excalibur Basara Nekki Special (Fire Valkyrie)", slated for release in October 2025.
The VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie, which appears in "Macross 7", is a special experimental unit modified from the "YF-19 Excalibur" developed by Shinsei Industry for the New U.N. Spacy's "Project Super Nova". Under the top-secret "Sound Force Project", it was piloted by Basara Nekki, the lead vocalist of the band FIRE BOMBER, to test the Sound Energy System. The entire unit is equipped only with defensive main wing laser cannons and leg micro-missile pods; its primary weapon is the "song" emitted from its massive speakers, and it can even fire special speaker warheads to force opponents to listen to music.
The "DX Chogokin VF-19 Kai Excalibur Basara Nekki Special" is crafted with an overall height of approximately 23.5 cm and an alloy frame, faithfully recreating the Fire Valkyrie's red fuselage from the anime, complete with high-density detailed sculpting and abundant body markings.
The unit also features a precise transformation mechanism that requires almost no part swapping, allowing it to reproduce the three forms of FIGHTER, GERWALK, and BATTROID. This time, a new storage mechanism has been designed to address the issue of leftover parts, capable of storing the remaining upper fuselage parts after transformation. In BATTROID mode, the Fire Valkyrie not only boasts a cool physique and proportions, but its shoulder speaker units and leg missile pods also feature deployment mechanisms.
The product accessories also include two mini pilot figures of "Basara Nekki" in sitting and standing poses, which can be placed in the cockpit in FIGHTER mode to recreate Basara's passionate singing scene with his electric guitar. Furthermore, in addition to interchangeable masked and unmasked head sculpts for BATTROID mode, the DX Chogokin version also includes an original "open-mouth singing" face part, representing the toy development team's imagined "Basara lip-sync function."
