Netflix's eagerly anticipated new "The Chronicles of Narnia" film series has been actively casting. While British singer Charli XCX (pictured below) was previously rumored to be on the shortlist for the villainous White Witch, Jadis, acclaimed entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider recently revealed on his blog, The InSneider, that Charli XCX has since withdrawn from consideration. Following her departure, three other actresses entered the race.

Sneider reported that Margaret Qualley, who recently garnered significant buzz for her starring role in "The Substance," and Emma Mackey, who rose to prominence through "Sex Education," were among the finalists vying for the role of Jadis. While the identity of the third actress remained elusive, it has now become irrelevant, as Mackey has officially secured the part following the final round of auditions.
The first two installments of the new "The Chronicles of Narnia" film series will be written and directed by "Barbie" filmmaker Greta Gerwig. Mackey previously collaborated with Gerwig on "Barbie," where she played the role of Physicist Barbie, marking a reunion for the two.

The inaugural film in the new "Narnia" saga will adapt "The Magician's Nephew," the sixth book in C.S. Lewis's original series, which serves as a prequel and chronologically sets the earliest events of the entire saga. Production is slated to begin this July and continue through Christmas, with plans for an exclusive two-week global IMAX theatrical run starting November 26 next year, before its eventual release on Netflix.
