Japanese model manufacturer GOOD SMILE COMPANY's mechanical-themed brand MECHA SMILE has announced the latest product in its completed transforming toy series 'THE GATTAI', the "DX Sounderous" from the theatrical anime film "GRIDMAN UNIVERSE", slated for release in February 2026.
Monster Battleship Sounderous is an aerial transport vessel used by the protagonists of the 'Gridman Alliance' in the story. Normally, it assumes a fortress mode resembling a battleship, possessing the ability to traverse different computer worlds. During combat, it can transform and combine, becoming the 2nd Gen's giant-sized enhanced armor, with an appearance similar to her kaiju form, "Anosillus". It can utilize the battleship's onboard armaments for beam and missile attacks.
"DX Sounderous" is the series' first product to combine mecha and bishoujo figures. It includes the "Monster Battleship Sounderous" main unit and a "2nd Gen" articulated figure. In fortress mode, the "Monster Battleship Sounderous" measures approximately 23 cm in length, precisely recreating the detailed sculpt of the ship. The main cannon and large drill feature articulation, and the missile pods can be deployed. Additionally, the toy incorporates an original mechanism, allowing it to be equipped with two cannons that are only present in its combat mode in the original setting.
The "2nd Gen" articulated figure stands approximately 14.5 cm tall, featuring articulated joints designed to recreate poses from the show. It also comes with interchangeable smiling and two different battle expressions with varying gazes, along with multiple hand parts and a "baton," a classic prop paying homage to the live-action "Denkou Choujin Gridman" (Gridman the Hyper Agent).
Through its complete transformation and combination mechanism, Sounderous can fully house the "2nd Gen" articulated figure internally, recreating its combat mode in the same pose as seen in the anime. The concern regarding support strength is addressed by locking mechanisms and support arm parts that bear the weight of the upper body. In combat mode, various missile pods feature deployment mechanisms, allowing for the "Full Burst" stance of all-out armed firing. Furthermore, the top shutter is made of soft vinyl, allowing for the adorable design of revealing the "2nd Gen"'s face when the shutter is opened.
Additionally, accessories include interchangeable parts focused on articulation, allowing for the "2nd Gen" articulated figure to be swapped out. With various articulation designs and ratchet knee joints, the lower body's poseability is significantly enhanced, enabling more flexible combat poses. These parts can also be displayed alongside the swapped "2nd Gen" main body.
