Five years after its exclusive Apple TV+ debut, Tom Hanks' World War II drama "Greyhound" garnered strong critical acclaim and impressive viewership. A sequel was announced in 2022, and after three years in development, Deadline today confirmed that the follow-up is officially slated to begin principal photography in Sydney, Australia, in January 2026. This marks "Greyhound" as Hanks' third film franchise, joining the ranks of the "Toy Story" and "The Da Vinci Code" series.

Hanks is set to reprise his role as Commander Ernest Krause, captain of the U.S. Navy destroyer USS Keeling. He will also return to pen the screenplay and serve as a producer alongside his longtime partner Gary Goetzman, through their Playtone production company. Aaron Schneider, who directed the original film, is also confirmed to return to the helm.
Deadline's report further revealed that the sequel's storyline will follow Krause and the USS Keeling as their naval theater of operations shifts from the beaches of Normandy to the Pacific, playing a crucial role in turning the tide of World War II.
