The critically acclaimed vampire film "Sinners" not only opened strong in North America but also delivered a stunning second-week performance, holding its ground with minimal drop and reclaiming the top spot. After pulling in $48 million in North America two weeks ago, "Sinners" earned $45 million last week, a mere $3 million dip, averaging an unprecedented 6% decline. This is exceptionally rare in cinema history, as box office typically halves or drops by two-thirds after the second or third week. The film's near-unchanged performance clearly indicates strong audience engagement.

"Sinners" has accumulated $122 million domestically and $161 million worldwide to date, against a production budget of approximately $90 million. Industry outlets generally estimate the film needs to surpass $300 million globally to break even or turn a profit.

Following "Sinners" on the North American box office charts last week was the 20th-anniversary re-release of "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith," which debuted with a robust $25.2 million domestically and $42 million worldwide. Remarkably, for a two-decade-old film, this performance even outpaced the new sequel "The Accountant 2," pushing it down to the third spot last week.

"Revenge of the Sith" secured the second-highest re-release opening weekend in North American box office history. The top spot still belongs to another "Star Wars" saga entry, "Star Wars: A New Hope," which earned $35.9 million during its 1997 re-release opening. Meanwhile, "The Accountant 2" took in $24.5 million in its opening weekend, nearly matching the original film's $24.71 million debut. However, the sequel's production budget is significantly higher, almost double that of the first installment ($80 million compared to $44 million), placing greater pressure on it to achieve profitability.
