Japanese toy company TAKARA TOMY, drawing from the sci-fi classic "Star Wars," is not only releasing a vehicle set in the "Tomica (トミカ/TOMICA)" series, but has also announced two new sets in its Metal Figure Collection "Metacolle (メタコレ)" series! These include the "Droid Set" (ドロイド セット) and the "Dark Side Set" (ダークサイド セット)! Scheduled for release on May 17, 2025, with a suggested retail price of 4,950 JPY per set.
Though palm-sized, these alloy toys boast an excellent sense of weight. The Metacolle Metal Figure Collection series, launched in 2015, is now welcoming six "Star Wars" characters at once! This includes R2-D2, C-3PO, and BB-8 from the Droid Set, as well as Darth Maul, Darth Vader, and Kylo Ren from the Dark Side Set. The figures stand approximately 7.5 cm tall, can hold their lightsabers, and feature articulation in their arms. The packaging is of the same type as TOMICA's vehicle sets, designed to serve both as a display feature and character introduction – truly an insidious plan to conquer your wallet!
