"The Smashing Machine" is based on the true story of two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion Mark Kerr. Johnson stars as Kerr, while Blunt portrays Kerr's ex-wife, Dawn Staples, from whom he separated in 2015. Johnson also serves as a co-producer alongside Benny Safdie, through his co-founded production company, Seven Bucks Productions. The film is slated for an October 3rd release in North America this year.
