Gallery Opening Hours: Monday to Saturday 12:00-18:00 (Closed on Sundays)

The Tunghai University Department of Fine Arts Graduate Institute established the "Art Curation and Criticism Group" in 2006, now renamed the "Art Curation and Management Group." To date, it has cultivated numerous museum professionals and curators, with Tunghai Fine Arts students' expertise visible in both public and private sectors. Among the graduate institute's courses, the biennial internship exhibition is a key program for nurturing these professionals.

For each internship exhibition, students from the Curation and Management Group and the Creation Group take courses together, form teams, observe and research current issues, and then invite external professional artists to convey the language of the times through the exhibition. This year's exhibition follows this tradition, taking electronic games, a common part of young people's lives today, as its theme. "LOADING" invites audiences into an immersive exhibition that combines art and gaming in an exploratory journey. Through pixelated visuals and exhibition design, the entire exhibition invites viewers to transform into game players, experiencing four sub-themes according to the game's progression: "Initial Equipment," "Exploring," "Hidden Level," and "Log Off," allowing audiences to gradually uncover a worldview where gaming and art intertwine, much like clearing levels.

This exhibition is curated by Lin Hsin-Wei, a graduate student from the Curation and Management Group. Lin Hsin-Wei, along with fellow Curation and Management Group graduate students Tsai Yuan-Chen and Chen Te-Yi, and two Creation Group graduate students Hsu Yu-Wen and Chang Shih-Chun, form a five-person team. They have invited 10 contemporary artists with extensive exhibition experience both domestically and internationally, showcasing diverse media including painting, video, multimedia installations, and even immersive interactive works. "LOADING" attempts to explore through the works of these 10 artists how electronic games are no longer just childhood entertainment but have become a cultural memory and aesthetic language for a generation's growth. By delving into aspects such as game design, virtual characters, player behavior, and memory reconstruction, the exhibition presents how electronic games profoundly influence contemporary art creation and thought.

Through multi-media works including installations, images, sound, and interactive pieces, "LOADING" not only responds to artistic imagination in the digital age but also attempts to redefine our relationship with the virtual world, inviting audiences to reconsider: "Is gaming merely fiction? Or has our reality already been 'loaded'?" Whether you are an electronic game player or not, this exhibition will bring you a brand new experience of art and electronic games!

During the exhibition, guided tours and artist talks will be held. For more information, please follow the exhibition's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/loading_thu_th12?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw==
