GENCO Company of Japan announced its latest gashapon product themed around "Shizuoka," the "World Capital of Models." The product, "Model Monuments Miniature Keychains," is scheduled for release within 2025, with an advance sale at the venue during the '63rd Shizuoka Hobby Show' from May 14-18, 2025.
Tamiya, Fujimi, Aoshima Bunka Kyozai, Bandai... these well-known model manufacturers have all established their production factories in Shizuoka, making this land, which combines natural beauty, tourism, and industry, the number one city in Japan for plastic model kit exports. Therefore, since 2020, the Shizuoka City Government has collaborated with Hakuhodo Group to launch a local tourism promotion project called the 'Shizuoka City Model Kit Project.' This initiative not only established the "Model Kit Promotion Section" within the Industrial Promotion Division and opened model workshops where visitors can experience model making, but also placed facilities such as post boxes and public phones designed in the shape of model sprues in various locations throughout the city, hoping to let more people know about Shizuoka's reputation as the 'World Capital of Models.'
The "Model Monuments Miniature Keychains" launched this time were produced with the assistance of the Shizuoka City Government and the Shizuoka Model & Hobby Cooperative Association, and will be sold in advance at the "Shizuoka Hobby Show," a plastic model event with a 66-year history. The product features four designs: "Public Phone," "Post Box," "World Capital of Models Signboard (JR Shizuoka Station South Exit Plaza)," and "World Capital of Models Signboard (Shizuoka Twin Messe Exhibition Hall)." These model monuments have been transformed into miniature keychains, meticulously reproducing their detailed shapes and lettering, allowing you to carry these famous photo spots with you at all times!
