Japan's unique art gallery, and one of the must-visit toy stores for toy enthusiasts in Nakano Broadway, "Hakaba Gallery (墓場の画廊)", is celebrating its 9th anniversary in 2025! In the recently announced "Hakaba Gallery 9th Anniversary Birthday Festival" (墓場の生誕祭) event, various artists are showcasing their soft vinyl works. This article introduces the stunning new creations designed by Hong Kong artist Winson Ma (Ma Chi-hung): "Amakong" and "MacZkong"! Lottery sales are scheduled for May 19-20, 2025, with shipping commencing in June of the same year. The suggested retail prices are JPY 93,500 and JPY 60,500 (tax included).
Winson Ma has been active in the design field since 2000, is one of the founders of Brothersfree, and also the principal of "Winson Classic Creation". Winson Ma excels at character design based on ape concepts; for instance, his reinterpretation of the Mazinger Z soft vinyl figure in 2020 clearly demonstrates his exquisite sculpting prowess! These brand-new original monster characters, Amakong and MacZkong, not only incorporate a wealth of intricate details, building up rich layers and a substantial presence in their appearance, but their impressive 33 cm height also imbues them with a powerful and imposing aura.
This Amakong is a terrifying monster based on a muscular gorilla, fused with carnivorous dinosaur and mechanical elements. Its giant ape face and fur, the dragon head on its left shoulder and dorsal fins on its back, a mechanical tail wrapped in reptilian skin, along with hard scales sculpted across its entire body and exposed metallic structural parts – from every angle, one can feel Winson Ma's pursuit of detail and imagination. You can even see the muscle fibers beneath the skin; it's absolutely astonishing! Accessories include an eerily styled train part, which Amakong can hold to convey the atmosphere of a giant monster invasion.
▼ The other figure, MacZkong, shares the same mold as Amakong but presents a completely different atmosphere through its distinct paint scheme! The price is also different, so toy collectors interested in the lottery should take note.
