DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn is back at the helm for the DC series "Peacemaker," and the first trailer for its highly anticipated second season finally dropped tonight, giving fans who have waited three years a sneak peek at some exciting new footage. The biggest surprise in the entire trailer, however, was the opening sequence featuring cameo appearances by Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner (Green Lantern), and Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord.

Sean Gunn, Merced, and Fillion are all part of the cast for this summer's major DC film, the new "Superman" movie, which is also written and directed by James Gunn. This effectively reveals that Merced and Fillion will appear twice in the new DC Universe within a two-month span this year, as "Peacemaker" Season 2 premieres on August 22, and "Superman" hits theaters on July 11.
Beyond Sean Gunn, Merced, and Fillion, another actor appearing in both projects is Frank Grillo, who portrays Rick Flag Sr. Grillo's role in "Peacemaker" is particularly significant, as his character seeks revenge on John Cena's Peacemaker for killing his son in "The Suicide Squad."
