After a box office dip with its second installment, the "Ted" franchise finally saw a resurgence last year, returning as a prequel series on Peacock. The show garnered excellent viewership, leading to a swift second season renewal. Despite the prequel's success, fans have eagerly awaited a continuation of the film's storyline, hoping to see Mark Wahlberg and his best bro Ted's antics further unfold. Thanks to the prequel series' strong performance, a new sequel is now officially in the works.

Peacock recently announced that in addition to the renewed prequel series, they are also developing a follow-up to the film's storyline. Mark Wahlberg, who plays the adult John, Amanda Seyfried, who portrayed John's new girlfriend Samantha in the second film, director Seth MacFarlane as the voice of Ted, and Jessica Barth as Ted's wife Tami-Lynn are all confirmed to return. New cast members include Kyle Mooney and Liz Richman, with Richman also a veteran of the prequel series, where she played John's high school classmate Polly.
However, this new sequel will not be a live-action feature film but rather an animated series, meaning these actors will primarily lend their voices. MacFarlane, a core creative force behind the franchise, is an exception, as he will continue to serve as writer and executive producer. The official announcement included behind-the-scenes footage of the cast recording (see link above), though the series' release date has yet to be announced.
