Amazon Prime Video unveiled the first look photo (below) and a teaser trailer for its live-action "Spider-Noir" series starring Nicolas Cage during its annual upfront presentation today, confirming a premiere for next year. Cage, who previously voiced the animated version of the character in the "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" franchise, will now portray the hero in the flesh.

The series also stars Li Jun Li, Lukas Haas, Jack Huston, and Brendan Gleeson. Amazon also confirmed today that the show will be released in both color and black-and-white versions. The series is set in 1930s New York, similar to the original comics, and features an older, gray-haired Spider-Man. In a departure from the source material, this version of the hero is not a variant of Peter Parker and exists in his own standalone universe.

"Spider-Noir" is helmed by co-showrunners Oren Uziel ("The Cloverfield Paradox") and Steve Lightfoot ("Marvel's The Punisher"). Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the producing duo behind "Into the Spider-Verse," will executive produce alongside Amy Pascal, producer of the "Spider-Man" film franchise.
