The 'HG (High Grade)' series, a 1/144 scale Gunpla line with the most diverse range of mobile suits, produced by the HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, first showcased the prototype of its latest product, 'HG 1/144 Destiny Gundam SpecⅡ [Final Battle Image Color]', from the theatrical anime film Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, at the '63rd Shizuoka Hobby Show'. The release date is yet to be determined.
The ZGMF/A-42S2 Destiny Gundam SpecⅡ, piloted by Shinn Asuka, is a new mobile suit secretly recovered by the Eternal after the Destiny Gundam was severely damaged in the previous war. It was then repaired and improved by Orb's Morgenroete Inc. using the latest technology. In addition to adopting a cutting-edge all-around cockpit and replacing the joint armor material, its power system was also significantly upgraded. The substantial increase in energy also resulted in a deeper color for its VPS armor.
The newly released 'HG 1/144 Destiny Gundam SpecⅡ [Final Battle Image Color]' is a recolored version based on the previously released standard edition. It recreates the appearance of the Destiny Gundam SpecⅡ unleashing dozens of 'Bunshin' for a coordinated attack during the final battle sequence at the end of the film. The most noticeable change is the replacement of the joint parts' molding color with fluorescent red, depicting the joints glowing red when performing the Bunshin ability.
From the prototype displayed at the venue, it can be seen that the weapon accessories include at least the shield, beam boomerang, 'Arondight' Beam Sword, High-Energy Long-Range Beam Cannon, and Wings of Light, which are all existing parts from the standard edition. Additionally, a new projectile weapon used in the movie, the 'Prototype 35th Modified Railgun', has been added.
