The highly anticipated launch of Nintendo's next-gen console, the Nintendo Switch 2, has been marred by a catastrophic blunder! On day one, multiple players discovered their brand-new consoles, purchased from GameStop, had their screens punctured by staples. The culprit? Store employees apparently stapled purchase receipts directly onto the console boxes, with the staples piercing through the packaging and damaging the devices inside.

The issue appears to be concentrated at a specific GameStop branch on Forest Avenue in Staten Island, New York. Numerous players took to social media, reporting that after attending the store's midnight launch event, they returned home only to find their Nintendo Switch 2 screens with tell-tale puncture marks.
One player, in a now-deleted post on Reddit , claimed, "Almost every pre-ordered console box at that store was stapled. There were over a hundred people there, and nearly everyone got hit."

According to unboxing photos shared by frustrated players, the Switch 2 console sits face-up in the cardboard box, with its screen exposed and only a thin plastic bag for protection. The staples easily tore through the flimsy packaging, directly piercing the console's display. This design flaw has players screaming mad, with many exclaiming, "This packaging design clearly didn't consider any risks! How can they leave the screen so exposed?"
Many affected players have reportedly contacted both Nintendo and GameStop but have yet to receive an official response. One player expressed their exasperation, "I have to wait three months for a restock, this is ridiculous."

▼User Pozzo4 chimed in: "Me and this guy next to me (who I didn't know before) were at the same GameStop, and both our consoles, plus another friend's, are messed up! It feels like the entire batch of pre-orders is ruined."
Beyond criticizing GameStop employees for their mishandling, many netizens are also questioning Nintendo's oversight in the packaging design. "I knew this would happen," one user commented. "This design is so weird, with the screen facing up and no extra protection. It was already risky for shipping, and now it's getting destroyed by staples."
While some players plan to rush to the store for returns and exchanges as soon as doors open, many are worried about insufficient stock for immediate replacements. The incident continues to gain traction online. The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, fresh out of the gate, has seen its dream launch turn into a nightmare for many players due to an epic fail in both packaging and store handling.
