With Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater gearing up for its August 28, 2025 release, Konami just dropped a bombshell at their recent "KONAMI PRESS" presentation: the game will feature a brand-new online multiplayer mode called "Fox Hunt." This fresh take completely replaces the familiar Metal Gear Online (MGO) that veteran players know and love. 
Konami states that "Fox Hunt" is a completely different beast from past MGO iterations. Gameplay footage shows players controlling soldiers from a third-person perspective, utilizing camouflage tech to blend into environments, emphasizing a strong stealth-oriented style.
The mode is helmed by Game Director Yu Sahara, who stressed, "Fox Hunt is an entirely original online mode. We've built upon Metal Gear Solid's core stealth and survival elements, pushing camouflage and hide-and-seek gameplay to new heights."
Sahara noted that while "Fox Hunt" shares the same world as Snake Eater, its game mechanics are entirely distinct. He also admitted that during the design process, the team considered the massive shifts in today's multiplayer landscape, opting to create a new competitive mode that highlights "the tension of stealth and pursuit" rather than just another gunfight arena.
Beyond "Fox Hunt," PlayStation 5 and PC versions will see the return of the classic "Snake vs Monkey" mini-game, a homage to Ape Escape. Meanwhile, Xbox players are in for a wild crossover with Bomberman, featuring "Snake vs Bomberman" content – a delightful surprise!
Producer Yuji Korekado further explained that while the remake retains the fundamental design of the original's boss battles, AI behavior and animation have been optimized, and overall game balance has been tweaked to enhance the experience while staying true to the source material.
Additionally, the popular "Secret Theater" from the original game will make a comeback. Players can collect these secret videos throughout the game, with new versions even hidden on enemies, waiting to be discovered.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms on August 28, 2025.
