Capcom finally pulled back the curtain on its long-awaited original sci-fi game, "Pragmata," during today's "Capcom Spotlight" livestream, dropping the first-ever gameplay footage! The reveal gave players a peek at what this years-in-the-making title is all about. The new video showcased the game's core mechanics: players will need to hack enemy robots via mini-game puzzles while dodging attacks and firing back in intense combat, promising a dynamic blend of strategy and action.
"Pragmata" stands out as a rare, brand-new original IP from Capcom, a stark contrast to their legendary franchises like "Monster Hunter," "Resident Evil," and "Street Fighter." It first made waves when it was unveiled in June 2020. However, after several delays, the game is now slated for a 2026 release.
The game's narrative unfolds in a futuristic world where a lunar research station faces a catastrophic crisis. Players step into the boots of Hugh, a combat-ready astronaut, who teams up with Diana, a child-like android. Together, they embark on a mission to unravel the mysteries behind the disaster. This unique character pairing and enigmatic atmosphere inject a rich layer of emotion and suspense into the title.

Several gaming media outlets recently got their hands on a demo, reporting that "Pragmata's short playable segment felt unique and incredibly polished, leaving us eager for more." While they noted it remains to be seen if the full game can sustain these innovative ideas over a longer play experience, Capcom's consistently strong development track record in recent years has built considerable confidence for the final product.
With this new footage, "Pragmata" is slowly shedding its veil of mystery, once again proving that Capcom isn't just a master of classic franchises, but also boasts serious ambition and creativity when it comes to original new titles.
