Last year marked the 70th anniversary of the King of the Monsters, Godzilla, and director Takashi Yamazaki's anniversary film, Godzilla Minus One, smashed box office records worldwide. It even became the first Godzilla film to win an Academy Award, cementing Yamazaki's role in directing the 31st Godzilla film, a confirmed sequel.
Earlier this year, a brand-new ride experience, "New Godzilla THE RIDE," was announced. Today (July 2), officials officially revealed its name: "Godzilla the Ride: Great Clash" (ゴジラ・ザ・ライド グレートクラッシュ), along with its main visual.

This "Godzilla the Ride: Great Clash" attraction is a collaborative effort between Japan's Toho Co., Ltd. and Taiwanese company Brogent Technologies (Brogent). It's being brought to life by the original production team behind "Godzilla Minus One," including director Takashi Yamazaki and Shirogumi. The ride integrates Brogent's "i-Ride" flying theater system, already adopted in over 40 facilities globally, promising an incredibly realistic experience where riders will feel like they're soaring through the Godzilla world, being chased by monsters.
Back in 2021, director Takashi Yamazaki also lent his expertise to "Godzilla the Ride: Great Monster Summit Battle," which received rave reviews from visitors at Seibu-en Amusement Park in Japan.

The story plunges riders into an epic showdown at sea, featuring an original MechaGodzilla, the "Type Zero Mecha G-Breaker," personally designed by director Yamazaki, clashing head-on with Godzilla. The entire experience lasts approximately 15 minutes, and the ride will open for a global preview at Seibu-en Amusement Park on August 1st.
The narrative is set within the "Yuyake-kan" (Sunset Theater), a classic cinema located on "Sunset Hill" at Seibu-en Amusement Park. This theater secretly houses a hidden passage leading to the "Goose Nest," the mothership of the Emergency Defense Force Against Giant Biological Entities (EDGE). Aboard the Goose Nest is the Godzilla suppression weapon, the "Type Zero Mecha G-Breaker." Riders will assume the role of Godzilla monitoring personnel, boarding "Goose One" to search for Godzilla, who has appeared in the bay area, embarking on a truly immersive adventure.

Starting this summer, the ride is slated to launch in over 40 facilities worldwide, including Japan. This means Godzilla fans everywhere, not just in Japan, will have the chance to experience it.
For those eagerly anticipating this new attraction, keep an eye out for official updates to see what kind of thrilling new experience director Yamazaki will deliver!
