This Gunpla Builder's Half-Destroyed Psyco Gundam Mk-II Diorama is Pure Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ Gold!

If you're into Gunpla, you've likely dabbled in all sorts of techniques—painting, cutting, or weathering, for example—all to make your kits truly unique. Many builders also love recreating iconic anime scenes to bring their beloved Gunpla to life.

Today, we're diving into the incredible work of Japanese builder K ( @K316431887 ), a GBWC 2024 Finalist. He recently shared his custom "Psyco Gundam Mk-II" from "Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ," recreating that legendary scene of its massive, half-destroyed form. The insane modifications and diorama pairing have earned him massive praise and attention online.

This epic project began when K received the HG 1/144 Psyco Gundam Mk-II Gunpla from his younger brother-in-law for his birthday. His brother-in-law, in a truly generous move, declared: "Do whatever you want with it, go wild!"

K rose to the challenge, attempting to recreate the heavily damaged Psyco Gundam Mk-II from episode 36 of "Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ," where it desperately blocks the protagonist's path.

K went all out on the battle-damaged details. He didn't just break a perfectly good Gunpla; he meticulously worked on everything from the shattered outer armor and exposed internal frame to the severed cables. Referencing the anime scenes and adding his own flair, he transformed this already massive 270mm-tall model into a Gundam that genuinely looks like it's been "beaten to a pulp."

This is his finished "HG 1/144 Psyco Gundam Mk-II." But for K, that wasn't quite enough punch. Without a proper diorama, he felt it couldn't capture the full tension of the show.

So, K crafted a special diorama base with a rubble-strewn background and added beam cannon effect parts to its fingers, giving it that undeniable "the battle isn't over" vibe.

Beyond this "Psyco Gundam Mk-II," K frequently shares his other incredible works on X. Each one is absolutely stunning, especially his choice and interpretation of dioramas. If you're a fan of models or Gundam, definitely check out his work for some serious modding inspiration!
