Masamune Shirow's iconic manga, "Ghost in the Shell," shot to international fame with Mamoru Oshii's 1995 animated film of the same name. It's widely celebrated as a cyberpunk and sci-fi masterpiece, inspiring numerous anime and 3DCG adaptations over the past three decades.
Now, Japanese earphone brand LIFEEAR (ライフイヤー) has announced an exciting new collaboration! They're dropping a limited-edition version of their popular "Duo" model, specially designed in partnership with "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex." These 2-way earphones (both wireless and wired) feature interchangeable outer shells, retailing for 35,800 JPY. Pre-orders are already live on their official website!
The chosen model for this collab is LIFEEAR's LIFEEAR Duo, a hybrid earphone that supports both wired and Bluetooth wireless connections. It boasts a 1 dynamic + 1 balanced armature driver configuration, delivering high-resolution audio. But it's not just about sound quality—the exterior shells are fully customizable! With an MMCX interface, you can swap out cables or upgrade accessories, making them perfect for everyday listening or advanced audiophile use. It's a professional-grade, high-end design that truly delivers.
What makes this collaboration truly special are the two uniquely designed, interchangeable earphone panels: one featuring the adorable Tachikoma, and the other showcasing the series' infamous "Laughing Man" emblem. Mix and match to your heart's content! The earphone bodies themselves sport an asymmetrical color scheme, perfectly echoing "Ghost in the Shell's" futuristic tech aesthetic with a playful, distinctive vibe.
And that's not all! The earphone storage case is a collaboration with fashion tech brand GAACAL (ガーカル). Designed in a sleek matte black, it features the LIFEEAR logo and the Laughing Man motif, offering both premium style and practical utility.
Of course, for those who prefer a wired connection, a dedicated earphone cable is included. Simply plug it in and you're good to go, catering to all your listening preferences.
