Japan's biggest doujin event, Comic Market (コミックマーケット), or simply Comiket, just wrapped up its C106 edition on August 15-16, pulling in hundreds of thousands of fans over two days! The venue was absolutely buzzing with doujin creators and cosplayers.
But the real talk of the town? Nippon TV anchor Natsumi Kawade! She made her *official* cosplayer debut, hitting up Comiket with her TV crew to document the madness. And guess who she transformed into? None other than Rei Ayanami from "Neon Genesis Evangelion"! Naturally, she instantly became a viral sensation among attendees and netizens.

At 29, Natsumi Kawade isn't just a sharp reporter and anchor for Nippon TV; she's also a huge anime enthusiast. She's covered tons of events as a journalist and, yep, she's even dipped her toes into the cosplay world before.

▼ And get this: she's even rocked a Chisato Nishikigi cosplay from "Lycoris Recoil" at a previous event!

This Comiket marked her *first-ever* time attending as a cosplayer, and she was absolutely buzzing! "My dream of coming as a cosplayer has totally come true!" she gushed, even playfully shouting, "I wanna get over to you guys ASAP!!!"
Already a fan favorite, she was showered with compliments, with many saying the cosplay was a perfect fit. Her sheer joy was infectious!
Of course, the cameras were snapping away, and even *she* was stunned by the results, gasping, "Is that really me?! My dream came true!"

Throughout the TV segment, she radiated charisma and pure excitement, making it clear just how stoked she was to be at Comiket.

It just goes to show that even a busy anchor and reporter can totally embrace their inner cosplayer! Natsumi Kawade even mentioned this was only her second time cosplaying at an event, and she was "beyond thrilled" to get to join in the fun while on assignment. Talk about a dream gig!
C106 was a massive hit, drawing huge crowds over its two days, with cosplayers and doujin creators absolutely crushing it despite the sweltering heat at this year-end carnival. If you're ever in Japan, definitely mark your calendars for C107 this winter – it's an absolute must-see!
