Japan's largest doujin event, Comic Market (Comiket), once again drew hundreds of thousands of attendees over its two-day run (C106) from August 15-16. The venue was absolutely buzzing with doujin creators and cosplayers from all corners.
This time, we're spotlighting cosplayer Akahoshi ( @akahosisan ), who absolutely crushed it at C106 with a full-body, self-made Alphonse Elric suit from "Fullmetal Alchemist." Their incredible craftsmanship made the armor look like genuine, heavy metal, despite being a meticulously handmade costume, earning massive praise from netizens.

According to Akahoshi, the suit began with cardboard patterns, which were then transferred to boards for assembly. After applying faux leather, they added lighting effects and weathering for that perfect aged look. This impressive piece has actually been around for a while, having been worn to other events, proving its durability is tougher than expected.

Since the entire suit is handmade and uses no actual metal, it's surprisingly lightweight and allows for easy movement. Yet, it still nails that heavy metal aesthetic thanks to its masterful paint job, which has been a huge hit.
Akahoshi even joked that their quick movements previously startled some onlookers, who probably expected a metal suit to be much clunkier!

The headpiece also features built-in lighting, making the eyes glow eerily in the dark.

Akahoshi has many other fantastic cosplay creations, so be sure to check out their X (formerly Twitter) for more amazing work and perhaps some inspiration for your own costume projects!
