Japan's largest doujin event, Comic Market (Comiket), held its C106 iteration on August 15-16. Despite the scorching heat, the enthusiasm remained high, drawing hundreds of thousands of attendees over two days.
Amidst the bustling venue, an unexpected "station ticket booth" stall appeared. Its incredibly realistic appearance made visitors momentarily forget they were at a doujin event, feeling as if they'd stepped into an actual train station. Comments like "The level of detail is insane!" exploded online, sparking widespread discussion.

This incredible stall belongs to the fan group "Uchiura Railway Bureau." On the morning of the 17th, they posted "Setup complete!" along with photos of their booth.
Most doujin event stalls typically consist of a long table covered with a cloth, displaying books and a few posters, perhaps with some display stands. But this group went all out, transforming their entire space into a "ticket booth." With members dressed in uniforms inside, the scene looked exactly like a corner of a train station had been instantly transported to the venue, even leading some to wonder, "Huh? Did they just pop over during their shift?" Ticket boxes, change trays, and stamp holders were all there, so authentic it felt like "this is exactly what the inside of a ticket booth must look like."
The "Uchiura Railway Bureau" was actually formed in 2018 by members who love Japanese National Railways (JNR) uniforms and are also fans of "LoveLive! Sunshine!!". The group currently has 17 members. Beyond researching JNR uniforms, they promote their passion by wearing the uniforms at events.
The inspiration for this "ticket booth stall" actually came from the 2020 pandemic. When events required anti-epidemic partitions, they thought, "If we have to build something, why not make it a real ticket booth?" The idea became a hit, leading them to commission custom acrylic panels and acquire other equipment, either genuine discarded station items or official gear purchased from manufacturers.

Members say their top priority is "atmosphere creation." At their booth, visitors can purchase tickets and commuter passes inspired by Showa-era ticket counters, and even fictional timetables, making it feel like a trip back in time to buy a train ticket.

This incredibly detailed "ticket booth stall" sparked a massive response on X (formerly Twitter), with many commenting, "This is exactly why I come to Comiket," "You guys are amazing," and "Detail fanatics!"

Many might think Comiket is solely about doujinshi and anime culture creators, but it also hosts an "abnormally diverse" range of creative units. If you get the chance, consider visiting the next C107 this winter. Beyond the wildly popular doujin stalls, you might just discover some truly unique and unexpected booths!
