Recent online rumors claimed a heated on-set dispute between Robert Downey Jr. and Ryan Reynolds during the production of "Avengers: Doomsday," with some reports even suggesting the studio was considering "separate filming" schedules for the stars, sparking widespread fan discussion. 
However, as major outlets like PEOPLE and TMZ have since come forward to clarify, the rumored feud between "Iron Man/Doctor Doom vs. Deadpool" has now been definitively debunked.
The rumors initially stemmed from "The Hot Mic" podcast, hosted by John Rocha and Jeff Sneider. While the hosts did not explicitly name the actors, social media quickly pointed fingers at Downey and Reynolds, causing the "on-set clash" narrative to rapidly escalate.
As the controversy quickly gained traction, PEOPLE was the first to publish an exclusive report, emphasizing that "there is absolutely no animosity between the two actors" and stating, "in fact, they have never even met in real life."
Following this, tabloid outlet TMZ also cited sources to further refute the rumors. The report indicated that Downey and Reynolds do "know each other" and had even discussed the possibility of Downey making a cameo in "Deadpool & Wolverine," but the two have never actually worked together on set. 
TMZ further stressed that "Ryan has nothing but respect and admiration for RDJ," effectively shutting down any possibility of a conflict between them.
Notably, the two had a playful "clash from afar" in 2019 during the AGBO Superhero Fantasy Football League, hosted by the Russo Brothers. At the time, Robert Downey Jr. jokingly challenged Reynolds in a video, saying "eat me," to which Reynolds responded by uploading a short clip of himself eating a cookie with Downey's face on it, demonstrating their consistently friendly and teasing interactions.
While the "on-set clash" has been debunked, various other rumors surrounding "Avengers: Doomsday" continue to circulate. Some claim Downey's "Doctor Doom" scenes require reshoots because they were initially performed by a stand-in, while others insist Reynolds has yet to arrive at the London set and will only appear later in the production.
With the studio remaining tight-lipped about the plot and production progress, it's difficult for outsiders to verify these claims, leaving audiences to treat them as unconfirmed speculation.
The film is slated for release on December 18, 2026, with its sequel, "Avengers: Secret Wars," scheduled to arrive on December 17, 2027.
