Created by the legendary late manga artist Akira Toriyama, Dragon Ball is hitting its 40th serialization anniversary this year, and it's safe to say it's a timeless classic for countless fans. Both the manga and anime have shaped memories for generations and remain incredibly popular today.
To celebrate this epic milestone, the Japan Mint has just announced two limited-edition Dragon Ball commemorative coin sets: a "Proof Coin Set" and a "Regular Coin Set." Fans can now enter a lottery to get their hands on these must-have collectibles!

The "Proof Coin Set" packs a punch with six proof coins, ranging from 500 yen down to 1 yen, all minted in the 7th year of Reiwa. But the real showstopper is the silver commemorative medallion: it features an intricately engraved Goku on the front, while the back sports the Dragon Ball 40th Anniversary logo with a special rainbow-colored finish. All this comes nestled in a custom leather case, with the outer packaging designed to mimic the iconic Dragon Ball manga art, making it an absolute treasure. This premium set will retail for 16,500 JPY.

Meanwhile, the "Regular Coin Set" also includes six standard coins from the 7th year of Reiwa, plus a special cupronickel "Year Medallion." The medallion showcases Goku on one side and the instantly recognizable Four-Star Dragon Ball on the other. The set also comes with a commemorative folder and a booklet detailing Dragon Ball's rich history. This one goes for a cool 3,150 JPY.

Both commemorative sets are currently available for lottery reservation on the Japan Mint's official website, with the deadline set for September 25th. The Mint warns that actual sales quantities might be adjusted based on demand, and if applications exceed the planned stock, winners will be chosen by lottery. Even then, purchase quantities for successful applicants might be limited, so if you're keen, head over to the Japan Mint website for all the details!
