The timeless classic, "Magic Knight Rayearth," created by the legendary manga artist team CLAMP, celebrated its 30th anniversary last year with the announcement of a new anime production project.
Today (October 17), the official announcement dropped: the new "Magic Knight Rayearth" anime is slated to air in 2026! Alongside the news, the first teaser visual was revealed, depicting the three heroines—Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki, and Fuu Hououji—on the cusp of a fateful turning point.

"Magic Knight Rayearth" originally began its serialization in Kodansha's shojo manga magazine "Nakayoshi" in 1993. Despite only having three tankobon volumes, its story was groundbreaking for shojo manga at the time, featuring three schoolgirls transported to another world where they transform into knights and pilot giant mechs. This unique premise left a lasting impression on countless fans, leading to a second series, "Magic Knight Rayearth 2."

This new anime project marks a reboot, launching 30 years after the original TV anime first aired in 1994. The initial announcement in 2024 sparked immense excitement and discussion among long-time fans, and now, the official 2026 broadcast date has been confirmed.
The newly released teaser visual, accompanying the announcement, shows the silhouettes of the three protagonists with the Tokyo Tower in the background. This symbolizes their pivotal moment of transition from the real world to the otherworld, hinting at the prologue where "destiny is once again set in motion."
Seriously, after all these years, a new anime? CLAMP, you really didn't forget about these three! With the official reveal of the new anime, the "Magic Knight Rayearth" official website has also gone live, promising more updates on character designs, production staff, voice cast, and other exciting news in the future.
