It's that time of year again—Halloween! And you know what that means: anime IPs and even big corporations are hitting social media, pulling out all the creative stops to grab fans' attention.
To celebrate the spooky season, the official X (formerly Twitter) account for "Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway" dropped a special commemorative illustration. The theme? "#GundamWitchSquad," bringing together Suletta from "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury," Gigi from "Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway," and Utako Sugai, the "Witch" from "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX." These three "Gundam Witches" made their debut in full-on witch attire, instantly captivating fans.
Each of these ladies has a deep connection to the "witch" theme: Suletta is the protagonist of "The Witch from Mercury," Gigi is famously known as "Circe's Witch," and Utako Sugai is a battlefield ace whose "witch" moniker strikes fear into enemies. In this new illustration, they each rock distinct Halloween outfits, showcasing their unique charms.
Suletta and Gigi's outfits are on the playful side, with Suletta sporting knee-length shorts and Gigi a short skirt, both radiating youthful energy. Meanwhile, Utako, a mom, dons an ankle-length wizard robe, giving off a sophisticated yet elegant vibe.
The details are packed with clever touches—like Suletta's hat, adorned with a Halloween-themed Haro charm. Utako's hat features a "Morning Star" flail, and she's cradling a "Mafty" pumpkin lantern, making her design arguably the most mischievously fun of the trio. Despite their distinct personalities, the three look perfectly harmonious in this Halloween greeting, a truly top-tier creative effort!
This illustration immediately sparked a frenzy on social media, with netizens flooding the comments: "The three Gundam Witches in one frame! So awesome!" "The smallest one is a married woman, I love it!" "That Big Zam demon in the background is hilarious XD," and "I just love seeing a youthful-looking wife having a blast with cosplay!" It was a double explosion of laughs and cuteness, sending fans into a frenzy.
Honestly, the "Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway" official team clearly knows how to capitalize on a moment. With the long-awaited second theatrical film hitting screens next January, using these three "Gundam Witches" to build buzz is a stroke of genius that's earning major props. So, out of these three magical ladies, who's your favorite?
