Japanese media outlet Famitsu released its Japanese home console software and hardware sales rankings for October 2025, covering the four-week period from September 29 to October 26.
The results show that Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A dominated, securing both the top and second spots with its dual versions, and propelled Nintendo Switch 2 sales to more than double, making it the most dazzling combo of 2025.

According to the data, the Nintendo Switch version of Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A, released on October 16, sold 1.068 million units in its first month, while the concurrently launched Nintendo Switch 2 Edition added another 684,000 units, totaling an impressive 1.753 million units. This isn't just the strongest launch for any new title this year; it also nearly matches its predecessor, Pokémon LEGENDS Arceus, which hit 1.784 million units in just two weeks back in 2022.
Coming in at third, "Ghost of Yōtei" showed steady performance with 173,000 units sold in its first month, while "Mario Kart World" snagged fourth place with 165,000 units. Hot on its heels at fifth was "Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2" with 86,000 units. Additionally, "Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles" made a strong showing, selling a combined 97,000 units across four platforms to secure a spot in the top ten.

On the hardware front, the Nintendo Switch 2 saw its sales skyrocket this month to 358,000 units, fueled by the launch of Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A. This is more than double last month's 176,000 units, bringing its cumulative sales to 2.468 million units. The traditional Switch models (including OLED and Lite) held strong in second place with 96,000 units, demonstrating Nintendo's continued dominant leadership ahead of the year-end holiday season.
Breaking down sales by publisher, The Pokémon Company took the top spot with 1.77 million units, followed by Nintendo with 413,000 units, and Sony Interactive Entertainment rounding out the top three with 179,000 units.
