STRICT-G JAPAN Unleashes "Char's Counterattack" Hanten Jackets: Nu Gundam & Sazabi Get Stunning Traditional Japanese Art!

STRICT-G, the official Gundam fashion brand, has a sub-label called "STRICT-G JAPAN" that consistently blends traditional Japanese culture and art into its apparel, offering fans fresh, unique choices.

Following last year's collaboration with traditional Japanese apparel maker Miyata Orimono for two "Mobile Suit Gundam" 45th anniversary hanten jackets, the brand announced today (12/5) two new hanten jackets themed around "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack." These come in Nu Gundam and Sazabi designs, available in both standard and long versions, and are currently up for pre-order on the Japanese Bandai Premium Bandai website.

Founded in 1913, Miyata Orimono boasts over a century of history in crafting traditional Japanese apparel. Each garment is meticulously produced with artisan skill, allowing wearers to experience the quality of a hundred years of craftsmanship, driven by a passion for creating the finest clothing for everyone.

This time, they've chosen the most iconic mobile suits from "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack": the Nu Gundam and Sazabi. Based on deep blue and red respectively, these jackets feature exquisite illustrations of the two rival MS, rendered in the signature "Uchu-e" (Space Ukiyo-e) style with traditional Japanese brushwork.

These hanten jackets feature modern adjustments to their material, color, and silhouette, re-examining a style that's been around for years. The cuffs are specially cut for a sharper look, giving the overall design a blend of traditional Japanese flair and retro sophistication. From fabric weaving to padding and stitching, every step is meticulously completed by hand, one piece at a time, in Miyata Orimono's own workshops in Japan. Both designs are also available in a long version, catering to different styling preferences.
