The re-release of classic films has grown increasingly popular in recent years. Each month, studios are bringing back their older titles, often promoting them with phrases like "XX Anniversary" or "X K Restored Version" to entice veteran moviegoers back to theaters for a nostalgic experience. Today, three major Hollywood film IPs have announced plans to bring specific classic installments back to the big screen.
First up is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This morning, Marvel Studios announced that "Avengers: Endgame" will return to North American cinemas on September 25 next year. This move is not merely a re-release; it's clearly intended to build hype and pave the way for the next installment, "Avengers: Doomsday," which is scheduled to premiere on December 18 of the same year.

Also slated for a re-release next year is Warner Bros. Pictures' "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. As next year marks the 25th anniversary of the first film, "The Fellowship of the Ring," Warner Bros. has arranged for a North American re-release of the "Director's Extended Edition" of all three films next month. DBOX versions are scheduled to screen from January 16 to 19, followed by standard versions from January 23 to 25.
Finally, "Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope" is also planning a "limited-time" re-release of a newly restored version on February 19, 2027, to celebrate the film's 50th anniversary. Notably, this restoration will be of the original 1977 theatrical version, not the subsequent versions that incorporated additional CG effects, lending it particular significance.
