The beloved manga series "Crayon Shin-chan," created by the late Yoshito Usui, may have ended its serialization, but the TV anime keeps going strong! Fans of all ages eagerly await the annual movie, and this year's "Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Super Shaking! Shin-chan's Hot Spring Battle" performed well.
Get ready for some supernatural shenanigans! Yesterday evening (Dec 13), the official "Crayon Shin-chan" team dropped a bombshell: the 33rd theatrical film in the series is officially titled "Crayon Shin-chan: Kiki Kaikai! Ora's Yokai Vacation" (Japanese title: 映画クレヨンしんちゃん 奇々怪々！オラの妖怪バケ～ション). They also unleashed the first teaser trailer and confirmed a summer 2026 release across Japan!
This time, the stage is set in the "Yokai Kingdom"! The Nohara family heads to Hiroshi's hometown of Akita to catch the famous Omagari Fireworks Festival, a summer staple. But thanks to a mysterious incident, they get sucked into the Yokai Kingdom – a bizarre and wondrous world where they'll embark on an utterly unpredictable adventure with all sorts of mythical creatures!
Directing this epic tale is Masaki Watanabe, who's been helming episodes of the "Crayon Shin-chan" TV anime since 2022 and contributed to the movie storyboards and direction starting in 2024. This marks his big debut as a theatrical film director!
Watanabe shared his excitement, stating, "Taking on the director's role is both a huge responsibility and incredibly moving. This time, we're setting the stage in a 'Yokai Kingdom' that truly captures the essence of Japanese culture, and Shin-chan, transformed into a Tengu, will be showing off some serious moves! The Nohara family will encounter all kinds of yokai, leading to the usual wild, thrilling, and totally unpredictable developments that fans have come to expect!"
Yumiko Kobayashi, the voice of Shin-chan, was equally thrilled, exclaiming:
"The story takes us to Dad's hometown of Akita, where Shin-chan will be causing all sorts of mischief with familiar yokai! What kind of bizarre and wonderful adventures will unfold between the yokai and Shin-chan? I'm already super excited to spend this mysterious and fun summer with everyone!"
The newly released teaser trailer and key visual show Shin-chan gasping "Ooooh~!" as he gazes up at a sky bursting with brilliant fireworks. Look closely, and you'll spot the silhouettes of yokai hidden within the colorful explosions! The tagline, "A delightful and mysterious encounter" (ゆかいで不思議な出会い), only heightens the anticipation for what's to come.

They also unveiled the "Tengu Shin-chan" character visual, and it's a total vibe! Shin-chan rocks a green and red Tengu outfit, complete with the iconic single-toothed geta sandals. His hat and back wings even have a cool Kantam Robot flair, and he's wielding a fox-patterned feather fan with an incredibly dashing expression. Surrounded by colorful fireballs, he looks both super cool and utterly adorable!
