Director Andy Muschietti, known for the "It" film series, recently expanded the franchise's universe with the prequel series "It: Welcome to Derry" on HBO Max. While the show is currently in its first season, with at least three seasons planned, Muschietti had a long-standing ambition before venturing into television: to release an extended cut of his "It" films, incorporating scenes that were regrettably left on the cutting room floor. This dream, however, has yet to materialize.

Back in 2019, while promoting "It: Chapter Two," Muschietti revealed his intention to release a new edit that would combine the first and second films into a single, epic feature, adding previously unseen footage to reach a runtime of approximately six and a half hours. Six years later, this two-part supercut remains unreleased. Despite the delay, Muschietti hasn't abandoned his vision. During a recent Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) session, a fan inquired about the possibility of the extended cut ever seeing the light of day. Muschietti responded, "It will happen. It's still a big dream of mine, but because we've been fully immersed in making the series, we haven't had time to realize the extended cut. Hopefully, it will eventually come true."
