"Resident Evil 9 Requiem" Trailer Hides a Surprise: Sherry Birkin's Suspected Return Ignites Fan Frenzy

Capcom's recent reveal trailer for "Resident Evil Requiem" (バイオハザード レクイエム) has kept the gaming community buzzing, especially after confirming the official return of Leon S. Kennedy. But Leon isn't the only familiar face making waves; eagle-eyed fans spotted another potential comeback from "Resident Evil 2," sending the trailer's hype through the roof.

In one fleeting moment of the trailer, a blonde woman is seen communicating with Leon. While the shot is quick, her voice has captured players' undivided attention.

Many fans are convinced this character is none other than Sherry Birkin. Sherry first appeared in "Resident Evil 2" and later returned as a government agent in "Resident Evil 6." Some players have even compared her voice acting from "Resident Evil 6" to the new trailer's audio, finding striking similarities that only fuel the speculation.

As of now, Capcom hasn't officially confirmed Sherry's appearance in "Requiem." The prevailing theory is that the developers are deliberately keeping things under wraps to keep Leon's return front and center. However, given Sherry and Leon both operate within government agencies and have crossed paths in previous titles, their reunion wouldn't be out of left field.

Even with Capcom stating that Leon will feature in roughly half of "Requiem," the game is still shrouded in mystery. Fans poring over the trailer have also noticed an unusual mark on Leon's neck, sparking theories about potential infection or even his safety. Capcom has only teased that Leon harbors a "major secret," without elaborating further.

And that's not all! Rumors are also swirling about another potential returning character. Leaked GameStop deluxe edition product info previously mentioned bonus costumes for Rosemary "Rose" Winters, leading players to believe she might also make an appearance in "Requiem."

With the game's release still some time away on February 26, 2026, Capcom has clearly mastered the art of building hype for its new title, keeping series fans glued to every update.
