The iconic tokusatsu franchise, Super Sentai, is officially wrapping up its nearly half-century-long heroic saga after the conclusion of "First Sentai Five Beasts." But don't despair! The official word is out: a brand-new tokusatsu series, "PROJECT R.E.D.," is on the horizon, with its first thrilling installment being Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity.
Hideaki Tsukada, a veteran producer behind countless tokusatsu hits and now a Managing Executive Officer at Toei, was honored with the Noma Publishing Culture Award for the "Super Sentai Series." During the award ceremony, he addressed the future of the franchise after its impending finale, sending a direct message to all the dedicated fans.

With the "Super Sentai Series" officially concluding and its successor already locked in, the nearly 50-year-old hero saga is about to take its bow. But Tsukada-san isn't calling it quits! He declared, "This isn't an end; it's just a temporary break. The Super Sentai Series will absolutely, without a doubt, be revived someday." He also expressed his deep appreciation for the fans' unwavering love and passion, acknowledging their anticipation for the franchise's next steps. Toei, he assured, holds the series in high regard, making a future return for the Sentai brand a very real possibility.

Of course, Shinichiro Shirakura, who served as a long-time producer, previously suggested that even if a revival were to happen—no matter how much fans crave it—"it would be better to let it rest for at least 10 years." The entire creative environment and production pipeline need to be fully prepared before the series can make a grand comeback in a fresh new form.

Tsukada also highlighted that the upcoming "PROJECT R.E.D." initiative aims to integrate various tokusatsu elements, offering audiences something distinct from the Sentai series. The goal is to challenge and redefine modern hero aesthetics, hoping that both long-time Metal Hero fans and devoted Sentai enthusiasts will eagerly anticipate the new lineup.
Meanwhile, "Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity," the series stepping into the Sentai slot, is slated to premiere on TV Asahi in 2026. Fans can mark their calendars for December 25th, when the next wave of information is set to drop, so keep those eyes peeled for more updates!
