"Death Stranding 2" Snubbed at TGA 2025, Players "Pee" on Host's NPC in Original Game to Vent Frustration

"Clair Obscur: Expedition 33" absolutely dominated The Game Awards 2025, sweeping multiple categories and setting a new TGA record. This left many other highly anticipated titles completely overshadowed.

Among the snubbed was "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach," which walked away empty-handed. This sparked outrage among some players, escalating into a rather unconventional form of "protest."

But here's the kicker: this fury wasn't aimed at real-life host Geoff Keighley. Instead, it was redirected straight into the game world.

Players flocked back to the original "Death Stranding" to perform a mock protest against Geoff Keighley's in-game cameo NPC, "Ludens Fan," by... well, peeing on his virtual doorstep. This bizarre act started on December 12th, the day after "Death Stranding 2"'s TGA shutout, and has been brewing on social media ever since.

In "Death Stranding," Geoff Keighley appears as an NPC, and players can deliver packages and complete missions for him just like any other survivor. But these furious fans clearly weren't interested in fetch quests. Instead, they opted to use the game's built-in "urination mechanic" to voice their displeasure. Since protagonist Sam frequently chugs energy drinks, the game naturally includes a peeing system – a detail originally meant to boost realism, but now repurposed for a whole new level of satirical protest.

What makes this whole stunt even more noteworthy is Keighley's long-standing friendship with Hideo Kojima, who almost annually graces the TGA stage to either announce new projects or share updates.

This year, however, despite "Death Stranding 2" having launched just six months prior, Kojima himself was spotted multiple times in the audience but never took the stage due to the game's complete lack of awards, leaving some fans even more disheartened.

On social media, an account named "naven0m" is believed to have kicked off this trend, but other players quickly followed suit. Some even declared their intention to make Ludens Fan's residence the "most peed-on location" in the entire game. While this behavior is clearly steeped in humor and irony, it undeniably reflects the emotional backlash from fans regarding the award results.

As "Clair Obscur: Expedition 33" hogged the TGA spotlight and powerhouses like "Death Stranding 2" and "Kingdom Come: Deliverance II" went home empty-handed, discussions are likely to rage on for a while. This virtual "pee protest" has unexpectedly become one of the most absurd and talked-about footnotes in this year's TGA aftermath.
