Capcom just dropped a fresh batch of "Resident Evil: Requiem" gameplay footage at its latest "Resident Evil" showcase, revealing the game's audacious core concept: pushing both "survival horror" and "action horror" to their absolute limits. This dual-protagonist design splits the gameplay styles, creating an unprecedented two-in-one experience.

Game Director Koji Nakanishi spilled the beans, stating that female protagonist Grace Ashcroft draws inspiration from "Resident Evil 2" and "Resident Evil 7." Her gameplay emphasizes brutal resource management, crushing atmosphere, and pure psychological terror.
Grace will be scrambling for survival with limited ammo, relying on stealth and sharp decision-making. But here's the kicker: she can use a special device to transform infected zombie blood into weapons! We even saw her detonating zombies with a mixed blood reagent in the gameplay demo—talk about a brutal, strategic way to stay alive.

On the flip side, Leon's gameplay is pure "Resident Evil 4" action-packed mayhem. As a DSO agent, he's a master of both close-quarters combat and gunplay. He'll wield a brand-new axe weapon to parry attacks, decapitate foes, and even snatch chainsaws right out of zombie hands for a brutal counter-attack! Precise limb targeting keeps the combat flow fast and furious.
The protagonist divide even extends to the save system! On "Standard (Classic)" difficulty, only Grace will be scrounging for limited ink ribbons to save her progress at typewriters—a clear nod to the series' early days, cranking up her survival pressure even further.
What's more, the zombies in "Requiem" are getting an upgrade! Infected no longer just stumble around mindlessly; they retain their pre-infection habits. Think cleaners still tidying up or chefs still prepping ingredients in the kitchen. The dev team wants players to observe and exploit these behavioral quirks to find a way out of sticky situations.
Capcom's "Resident Evil: Requiem" is set to drop on February 27, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC. With its innovative dual-protagonist design, the game is already sparking major buzz about the future direction of the series!
