Following the massive multiverse crisis in "Spider-Man: No Way Home," "Spider-Man 4: Brand New Day" is reportedly scaling down its scope to focus on street-level threats, with Spider-Man tackling smaller-scale dangers. Given that both Spider-Man and Daredevil operate in New York City, rumors have circulated that Daredevil's archenemy, Kingpin, would also make an appearance in "Brand New Day." However, the actor himself has now debunked these speculations.

Vincent D'Onofrio, who portrays Kingpin, recently confirmed in an interview on The Playlist's podcast that he is not involved in "Brand New Day," citing copyright as the reason. "I haven't been asked to do that," D'Onofrio stated. "I think I have to wait for them to own the character completely to do that, so that's what I'm waiting for."
D'Onofrio did not elaborate on the specific "copyright" issues, but it likely refers to Sony Pictures, which holds the film rights to Spider-Man, not having the rights to use the Kingpin character. Typically, when Marvel Studios wants to include an MCU character that Sony cannot independently use in a Spider-Man film, a new agreement between the two studios is required. While "Brand New Day" has reportedly secured agreements for Hulk and The Punisher to appear, Kingpin is not covered under these existing arrangements, preventing D'Onofrio's involvement.
