"BLUE LOCK" Live-Action Movie Unleashes First Teaser and Key Visual, Kicks Off This August!

The high-stakes soccer manga BLUE LOCK, created by writer Muneyuki Kaneshiro and artist Yusuke Nomura, has captivated fans with its stellar characters and gripping plot. Following two popular anime seasons, the previously announced live-action movie is officially ready for kickoff.

After a dramatic cast reveal in late January, the first official teaser trailer and a new key visual have dropped, confirming an August 7 release date across Japan.

The cast was unveiled in a 12-day social media blitz from January 26 to February 6, with one major actor revealed each day. The lineup, featuring Fumiya Takahashi as protagonist Yoichi Isagi alongside Kaion Sakurai and Kyohei Takahashi, sparked daily discussions online.
The full team assembled for a press conference in Tokyo on February 7, where even more details about the project were announced.

The newly released key visual brings together the full 12-character squad:

Fumiya Takahashi as Yoichi Isagi

Kaion Sakurai as Meguru Bachira

Kyohei Takahashi as Hyoma Chigiri

Kouta Nomura as Rensuke Kunigami

Yuzuki Aoki as Gurimu Igarashi

Sho Nishigaki as Asahi Naruhaya

Yuki Tachibana as Gin Gagamaru

Raizo Ishikawa as Jingo Raichi

Joi Iwanaga as Okuhito Iemon

Shunya Asano as Wataru Kuon

Yuki Sakurai as Yudai Imamura

Yuki Kura as Ryosuke Kira

It was also announced that the enigmatic mastermind controlling the fate of the entire "Blue Lock" project, Jinpachi Ego, will be played by Masataka Kubota.

In the new teaser, the 12 cast members are gathered in a tense, prison-like room where a sudden 2-minute and 16-second countdown ratchets up the suspense. It's a glimpse into the brutal "dormitory test" and its high-stakes game of tag, where losing means your career is over. The rule is simple: whoever is holding the ball when time runs out is immediately eliminated.

At the press conference, the production team revealed that the film was shot with the full cooperation of the Japan Football Association and the J.League. Soccer scenes were filmed on location at the J-Village national training center in Fukushima, with former Japan national team player Daisuke Matsui serving as the soccer action supervisor.

Matsui praised the cast's dedication, noting that despite their packed schedules, they trained relentlessly. "They had the same drive as players trying to make the national team," he said. "From my perspective as a supervisor, this is going to be a seriously authentic soccer film."

The film is helmed by director Yusuke Taki (known for *Chef is a Great Detective* and *Miss Sherlock*), who is making his theatrical feature debut. He urged fans, "You have to come to the theaters to witness the blue fever they're about to unleash."

Production is being handled by CREDEUS, the studio behind acclaimed live-action adaptations like *Kingdom*, *Golden Kamuy*, and *Kokuho*. Given their strong track record, fans worried about the "live-action curse" can likely breathe a sigh of relief.

The live-action *BLUE LOCK* hits theaters on August 7.
