Akihito Tsukushi's anime and manga series Made in Abyss has captivated fans despite its often horrifying elements. Its intricate plot and unimaginably deep Abyss setting make it a fantasy work wrapped in the guise of cute characters.
Last August, it was announced that the series would be adapted into a theatrical anime series. The first film, tentatively titled "Made in Abyss: The Awakened Mystery" (メイドインアビス目覚める神秘), just dropped its special trailer today (Feb 8th) and officially confirmed a Fall 2026 release!

"Made in Abyss" has previously released two TV anime seasons and one theatrical film, including:
The first TV anime season, "Made in Abyss," in 2017.
The theatrical film, "Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul," in 2020.
Season 2, "Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun," aired in 2022.
This new film, "Made in Abyss: The Awakened Mystery," serves as a direct sequel to the second TV anime season. Animation duties are once again handled by "Kinema Citrus," the studio behind previous installments.

After a four-year wait since Season 2, fans can finally dive back into the Abyss's gripping tension on the big screen! Many have been eagerly anticipating a continuation, and with this slated as part of a "theatrical anime series," more films might be on the horizon. Keep an eye out for future official announcements!
