Six years into her career, 23-year-old Japanese music sensation Ado remains a captivating enigma. Despite never revealing her face, she's racked up countless performances, even gracing the prestigious Kohaku Uta Gassen stage, cementing her astonishing popularity.
Today (February 14), Ado unveiled the cover art for her new single, "Vivarium," marking her first-ever live-action cover design since her debut. The image, a mysterious and somewhat melancholic shot of her back standing inside a closet, has already sent fans into a frenzy.

Ado herself penned both the lyrics and music for "Vivarium," drawing inspiration from her upcoming autobiographical non-fiction novel, "Vivarium: Ado and Me," set to release on February 26. Takaki "CO-K" Takafumi, who has long served as her concert band leader, handled the arrangement. A "vivarium" typically refers to a small enclosure that recreates a natural habitat for living creatures. As many fans know, Ado recorded her early music in her own closet before her debut. The song delves into the emotions she harbored while creating and singing in that small, box-like space.
The track is a powerful Voca-rock anthem, fully capturing Ado's inner struggles with self-doubt while desperately searching for a glimmer of light. It's an emotionally charged masterpiece.
As for the autobiographical non-fiction novel, "Vivarium: Ado and Me," it's based on Ado's own life story, recounted firsthand. Bestselling author Narumi Komatsu, known for works like "M: The One I Love" and "That's a Miracle: The Story of GReeeeN," spent three years conducting in-depth interviews to complete the book.
The book meticulously details her journey from childhood and the lows of her school truancy, to finding salvation and challenging herself as an "utaite" (internet cover singer). It also covers her fateful meeting with Takuya Chigira, president of her agency Cloud Nine, and the incredible growth story of "Ado" from her very inception all the way to her global tours. The content promises to be incredibly comprehensive.

Fans of Ado are undoubtedly hyped for the new song, but they're also buzzing with curiosity about the stories her autobiography will reveal. You definitely won't want to miss out!
